Before painting it is obligatory necessary to remove all impurities, such as: sand rests, salt from water and sand paper, excess of sealing compounds in case of additional sealing or protection, salts, grease from hands, all rests (also in traces) of different silicone materials, if they were used etc.
We get very good results in doing away all sort of dirt with MOBIHEL Antisilicone cleaner low VOC or MOBIHEL HYDRO Degreaser. You apply cleaner to surface with paper towel or clean cloth, which leaves no threads. Then wipe surface with dry cloth or paper towel.In case you only applied cleaner and did not wipe it, spots may be telegraphed on top coat of MOBIHEL HYDRO Base MIX.
The surface should be completely clean and dry, as in the opposite case numerous defects may appear: craters, blisters or paint cracking. Doing away these defects is difficult and requires complete sanding of surface and repeated painting.

Today more and more cars have plastic components, the most frequent are: bumpers, mirrors, spoilers, masque net etc. For this purpose we have in Mobihel programme three products for quality painting of also damaged parts. The products are intended for painting of PP, PP/EPDM, ABS, PC, PA, PUR and PPO, but they are not suitable for painting of polyethylene (soft plastic, from which plastic glasses and bottles are made).
The first important task in painting of plastic is thorough cleaning. Plastic parts are rough – have certain structure, in which there are fat rests from previous treatment. For cleaning apply larger quantity of MOBIHEL Cleaner for plastic low VOC to cloth, wipe and wash plastic parts. As the cleaner evaporates quickly, you may immediately continue with painting. The better way is the cleaning procedure with MOBIHEL Cleaner for plastic low VOC, followed by drying in oven at 60ºC for 30 minutes and repeated cleaning with MOBIHEL Cleaner for plastic low VOC. In such a way we remove from plastic substances, which remain at its production and could have negative influence on the coating’s adhesion. We do not polish plastic surfaces, as scratches may be telegraphed in top coat.
New plastic parts:
Immediately after thorough cleaning apply to plastic parts 1. handful MOBIHEL Primer for plastic low VOC, which is ready for spraying. Dry film thickness is approx 3-5 µm, which is sufficient for adhesion to base and application of following coats. As MOBIHEL Primer for plastic low VOC evaporates quickly, you may immediately continue with work. If you wish to have plastic parts painted in two coat quality, paint first with MOBIHEL HYDRO Base or MOBIHEL Base, wait 10 to 15 minutes,then apply still MOBIHEL 2K HS clearcoat, in which you add 20-30% MOBIHEL 2K elastic additive VOC.
The function of MOBIHEL 2K elastic additive VOC is that it makes a coating more elastic, prevents cracking or peel off from surface at extension and shrinking of plastic.
Damaged plastic parts:
Sand the damaged plastic part with sand paper of granulation 150-180 (lower granulation is not recommended, as we get too deep scratches). After sanding cleaning will follow with MOBIHEL Cleaner for plastic low VOC, then spray 1. handfulMOBIHEL Primer for plastic low VOC. Apply MOBIHEL PE putty for plastic to a damaged part. If you sanded at putty sanding also part of MOBIHEL Primer for plastic, you have to spray it again. On the sanded PE putty you paint withMOBIHEL 2K HS 4:1 compactprimer low VOC, in which you add 20-30% MOBIHEL 2K elastic additive VOC. After finished sanding you continue with two-coat painting of MOBIHEL HYDRO Base or MOBIHEL Base and MOBIHEL 2K HS clearcoat.
